CEO, MIchael Grove

Michael Grove is the CEO and Founder of CollabWorks – a corporation fostering entity to entity knowledge exchange at the executive level with the focus on sharing problem solving experiences. Michael has developed a network of Cloud, SaaS, and EaaS (Everything as a Service) suppliers, each validated by interviews with customers experiences and directed at how people work. He is a leading authority of the Virtual Enterprise transformation process assisting entities in optimizing how people work. He is leading a study project with the Haas Business School at UC Berkeley to demonstrate that entities can gain 10% or more in margin dollars per employee.

 

Michael’s industrial experience includes 5 successful start-ups, including 18 years as CEO. He has deep functional experience in sales, marketing, engineering, and program management in a broad range of businesses; including aerospace, renewable energy, M&A and turn-around consulting, semiconductor, systems management software, and non-profit activities. He has several patents to his credit ranging from semiconductor solutions to social networking. He has developed several successful software programs and business architectures for travel, aerospace, social networking, and collaborative networks. .

 

He was formerly the Founder/CEO of Open Country, a leader of remote systems management for Linux and Windows, where he developed global market penetration including India and China. Prior to Open Country, he founded Introplus, a community profile matching engine company. Prior to Introplus, he was the CEO and Chairman of the Board of MicroModule Systems, a Santa Clara semiconductor company that grew from zero to $46M in revenue in its first five years. He has been an Executive Fellow at Santa Clara University, advising many young companies. His background includes M&A activity as Managing Partner of the Pathway Group and Director of New Commercial Programs at Lockheed. He holds a Masters degree from UCLA and two Bachelor degrees from California Polytechnic University.

 

Lee Penning, CIO

Lee joined the Collabworks leadership team in April 2011, overseeing Collabworks Information Technology strategy, as well as having overall responsibility for the day to day IT operations and customer support for Collabworks.

 

Prior to joining Collabworks, Lee held the position of Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Photon Dynamics, Inc., where he had responsibility for the corporate business systems and network infrastructure worldwide.. Previously, as CIO of Spectrian, he led the organization toward a virtual company vision that allowed employees to perform their job functions from anywhere in the world. Lee has also held senior level information technology positions at FCS/New Millennium Technologies, Inc. a Y2K software conversion services company and Nextron Communications, Inc., a web site creation and hosting company. Earlier in his career, Lee worked for Deere & Company holding several positions within its Information Technology organization at both unit and corporate levels.

 

Lee received an MBA from the University of Iowa and holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Upper Iowa University.

 

 

Stan Scardino, Sr. Vice President Business Development

Stan is a high technology sales, marketing and business development executive with over 25 years of experience leading both established companies and start-ups. His career has been primarily focused on products that were highly complex and conceptual in nature such as Tandem Computers; Oracle; Netscape; Commerce One & Vitria. His leadership has developed sales models that allowed his company’s to team direct sales and services organizations with indirect sales and services partner organizations to maximize channel reach and minimize channel conflict.

 

Martin Boliek, Director of Product Marketing

Martin Boliek is a technology and business leader with experience in Internet delivery of imaging services. He was the Color Image Processing group leader at Ricoh's California Research Center and led the ISO/IEC JPEG 2000 Still Image Coding standardization. More recently he has been consulting with start-ups and small companies helping them align their technology and Intellectual Property strategies with their business strategies. Mr. Boliek holds both MSEE and MBA degrees, has over 50 issued patents in his name, and is a Senior Member of IEEE.

 

Hank Leingang, CIO in Residence

Hank Leingang has extensive experience as an IT executive and is a recognized leader in the IT industry regarding the business impact of the CIO, the strategic impact of IT in the enterprise and the growing competency mix needed in IT leadership. He has served in CEO, CIO and consulting roles.

As a transformational CIO at Bechtel Group, Viacom Inc. and Triangle Industries, Hank spent most of his career leading strategic change in operating capability leveraging IT, process re-engineering and organizational development.

He earned a master’s in business administration from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, and a bachelor of science degree in industrial administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

 

David Holman, CIO in Residence

David has held several C-Level roles bringing his consulting, technology and operations experience together to help startups successfully position for rapid growth, profitability and liquidity events.

 

Most recently David served as COO and Chief Customer Officer for Echopass, a SaaS based call center technology services provider helping the company migrate to the latest SIP technologies, upgrade it’s platforms and introduce additional products while increasing reliability and customer satisfaction with the company and its products and services. David has helped customers such as Overstock.com, The Hartford, Aon and others achieve significant savings from better use of technology and efficient work force management.

 

He started his career in applications development and quickly moved to leadership roles and soon joined Deloitte & Touch helping companies address operational challenges based on his early technology experience. David later served as CIO for several successful startups including Allscripts, Viaticus and Sentient Jet.

 

David brings hands on experience delivering high reliability SaaS services as well as his strong business knowledge of work flow and virtual workforce management to help Collabworks bring the best of these technologies to it’s solution set.
