CollabPort

The CollabPort platform initially addresses the need to optimize software used by each knowledge worker since this has a major factor in productivity. Our research shows that most workers are increasingly using their own software in combination with company-provided software.  Most IT executives interviewed aren’t familiar with the use of most SaaS apps nor its productivity value since the software is usually purchased by a Business Unit (BU). CollabPort provides: (1) Decision making tools to optimize user software; (2) Administrative software that simplifies daily user log-ins, provide enhanced security, and on-boarding/off-boarding in minutes; and (3) A collaborative environment where optimal uses of software and vendor experiences can be shared among enterprise decision makers.

As shown in the figure below, SaaS vendor information is on-boarded about their company, products, and customer experiences and placed into CollabPort. The information is presented by product category and function such as CRM, HR, etc. The IT or Business Unit executive begins the process by creating templates of apps per role of knowledge worker based on current usage. New applications can be added to the templates and information is provided to better understand cost, productivity value, and the experiences of other enterprises using the software. Once software decisions are made and contracts are in place the templates are loaded into a test or production environment. Users can then gain access to all apps available to them through our administration tools.

What problem does CollabPort solve?

Traditional command and control organizations hire or contract staff by the job. As social problem solving, wisdom of crowd, and “worker” networks such as O-desk become more mainstream, matching the problem to the job is crude and increasingly suboptimal. Talent nearly always exceeds the job of a worker. The main reason for high job turnover rates is job dissatisfaction. Younger generations in particular want variety and growth not often achieved with changing jobs.  Companies need to be able to on-board and off-board workers in minutes and not weeks. They need to promote knowledge exchange, optimize skills, and create project teams quickly and virtually. To do so, there needs to be greater transparency as to which knowledge worker can solve the problem. The solution might range from obtaining talent per job, per service, full or part time, or via a 3rd party.

What differentiates CollabPort?

In the near term CollabPort is differentiated by offering a one-stop solution to optimize and manage the web based software of a knowledge worker. The services platform includes SaaS and WaaS decision making support, automated administration including SaaS authentication, single-sign-on, complete provisioning, web to web connectors to support integration and vendor replacement, and an enterprise to enterprise collaboration environment where optimized solutions and vendor experiences can be shared. As the participating enterprises grow, the network effect will become increasingly compelling as the cumulative value of knowledge/experience exchange and collective vendor relationships expand.
