André Mendes, CIO Special Olympics

As the Chief Information Officer for Special Olympics' international headquarters, Mendes is responsible for all strategic and operational aspects of the global organization's information technology infrastructure. He will oversee the advancement and improvement of the organization's integral IT system, which includes the global and regional Web sites, all applications and the Special Olympics Knowledge Management System, which is accessible to employees around the world. Previously, Mendes was responsible for developing and implementing technology strategy in both the Broadcasting Engineering and Information Technology divisions of the Public Broadcasting Service. He also oversaw the daily operations of PBS's entire technology infrastructure.

James Spitze, Chairman of the Sequoia Strategy Group, Inc.

Jim has over fifteen years experience in the Information Systems field as a high level consultant and, separately, over a decade of experience as a Chief Information Officer for American President Lines, Xerox Data Systems, Singer Furniture, and Tri Valley Growers.  He has served as the senior executive responsible for information services units in Europe and Asia as well as the United States. He has been personally involved in the management of these units, including the overall design of the related telecommunications networks.

David Messerschmitt, The Roger A. Strauch Professor Emeritus of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS) at the University of California at Berkeley and a Visiting Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Helsinki University of Technology

He has served as the Acting and Interim Deans of School of Information and Chair of the EECS Department, and prior to 1977 he was with AT&T Bell Laboratories. Current research focuses on business and economics relevant to computing and communications technology. He is the co-author of Software Ecosystem: Understanding an Indispensable Technology and Industry (MIT Press, 2003), author of Understanding Networked Applications (Morgan-Kaufmann, 1999), and co-author of a widely used textbook Digital Communications (Kluwer, 1993). He is a co-founder and former Director of TCSI Corporation of Alameda California (now a division of Rocket Software), has served on the Advisory Boards of the Fisher Center for Management & Information Technology in the Haas School of Business and the Directorate for Computer and Information Sciences and Engineering at the National Science Foundation. He served as a member of the NSF Blue Ribbon Panel on Cyberinfrastructure, co-chaired a National Research Council (NRC) study on the future of information technology research and served on another study on telecommunications research and development, and also served on the Computer Science and Telecommunications Board of NRC.
